Turkey and the UN demanded guarantees from the West for Russian products

A RIA Novosti source familiar with the progress of negotiations on the extension of the so-called grain deal, Turkey and the UN would like to receive firm guarantees for the fulfillment of the terms of the deal relating to the interests of the Russian Federation, namely, to unblock the entry of Russian agricultural products and ammonia to international markets. The relevant agreement expires on March 18.
“At the moment, there are obstacles in terms of logistics, insurance and payment. I would like to receive reinforced concrete guarantees from Western countries, and that this be made public,” the RIA Novosti interlocutor emphasized.
The multilateral agreement on unblocking the export of Ukrainian food through the Black Sea ports includes, as a mirror measure, a similar unblocking for Russian grain and fertilizers. However, in the second part, the de facto agreement was not implemented for more than half a year, just as the declared humanitarian goals of bringing Ukrainian food to world markets were not resolved. Turkey and the UN are the guarantor of the treaty in addition to Russia and Ukraine itself.
Last week, representatives of Kiev made public their very high expectations regarding the introduction of more favorable terms for the Ukrainian side of the deal, however, the extension of the deal itself may already be called into question, given the complete discrediting of the position and arguments of its Western supporters.
