Turchak: the head of the executive committee of United Russia Sidyakin will receive the mandate of a State Duma deputy

The head of the central executive committee of United Russia, Alexander Sidyakin, received a vacant mandate as a State Duma deputy. This was announced by the Secretary of the General Council of the Party and Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak.

“The head of the Central Executive Committee of United Russia, Alexander Sidyakin, will receive the mandate of a State Duma deputy, vacated after the transfer of our colleague Igor Kastyukevich to the Federation Council. At the same time, he will continue to lead the executive committee of the party,” wrote he is on his Telegram channel.

Turchak clarified that the decision was made by absentee voting of the General Council. He called Sidyakin a “proven fighter,” noting that from the first days of the special operation in Ukraine, he participated in the humanitarian mission of United Russia in new regions. In addition, the politician worked on the referendum in the fall of 2022.

According to Turchak, thanks to Sidyakin’s work, digital services were introduced into the work of the party “at all levels.” They were used for the first time during the last election campaign, which “to a certain extent” determined its results, he added.

Sidyakin was already a State Duma deputy of the VI and VII convocations from United Russia, but resigned after becoming the head of the administration of the head of Bashkiria. In 2021, he became the head of the Central Election Commission of United Russia.

On September 19, the State Duma terminated Kastyukevich’s parliamentary powers. In the September elections, he was elected to the regional Duma on the party list; the politician heads the regional branch of United Russia in the Kherson region. Kastyukevich became a State Duma deputy in 2021 and was elected from the Voronezh region. In the lower house of parliament, he served as first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy.
