Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrey Turchak criticized the Kursk deputies spouses Maxim and Svetlana Vasiliev for vacationing in Mexico. He suggested that they resign and suggested that they could be moved to this decision by “Wagner’s sledgehammer” or “Starovoit’s kick”. Earlier, a video was circulated on social networks in which Mr. Vasilyev from a Mexican resort sends congratulations on the New Year.

No brains. <...> I don’t know what will inspire the Vasilievs to this decision: “Wagner’s sledgehammer”, “Starovoit’s kick” or the realization of their insignificance, albeit belatedly, but I hope that after the New Year holidays the ranks of Kursk deputies will thin out, ”Mr. Turchak wrote in Telegram.

The Secretary of the General Council of United Russia reacted negatively to the fact that the Vasilievs are resting in Mexico, “while the whole country is working for the front, helping the families of mobilized and dead soldiers” and when “residents of the border Kursk region are being shelled.”

deputies also criticized Governor of the Kursk region Roman Starovoit. In his opinion, the behavior of Mr. Vasiliev in the video is inappropriate. The deputy himself said that he shot a video for relatives, and a former friend from Ukraine published it on the Internet.

Maxim Vasiliev has been a member of the Kursk Regional Duma since 2021 (self-nominated). Prior to that, since 2003, he was a member of the Kursk City Council. His wife, Svetlana Vasilyeva, is a current member of the City Council from United Russia.
