Turchak proposed to Putin to make July 1 the Day of Combat Veterans

Secretary of the United Russia General Council, First Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Andrey Turchak at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin offered make July 1 the country’s Combat Veterans Day.
“Today, in many regions of our country, paying tribute to our defenders, the heads of the regions have established July 1 as the Day of Combat Veterans. We propose to establish this memorable date at the federal level by your decree,” he said.
Earlier last summer with such an initiative spoke State Duma deputies from the LDPR and several senators.
At a meeting dedicated to the interaction of public authorities and organizations on issues of mobilization training and social protection of participants in the special operation, Turchak also suggested that the president legislatively bring the salaries of mobilized, volunteers and contract soldiers to the same level. The head of state supported this proposal.
On December 20, 2022, Putin signed an order to create a working group to ensure interaction between public authorities and organizations on issues of mobilization, social and legal protection of citizens participating in the special operation and their families. The group included deputies, senators, members of the Public Chamber and the military correspondents. The group was headed by Turchak. Its first meeting was held on December 28, 2022 at the Ministry of Defense. The Group must prepare proposals for improving the legal regulation in the area of its activities and monitor their implementation. A monthly report on the work of the group is submitted to the president, it consists of open and closed parts, Turchak said.
