The press service of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry announced the “intervention” of Ambassador Mitrovanova in the affairs of the country
IN Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria regarded the words of Russian Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova about the Renaissance party as “interference in the affairs of the country.”
When asked by a journalist who the ambassador would vote for if she were a citizen of Bulgaria, Mitrofanova replied that she would vote “against all or for Kostadinov.” Kostadin Kostadinov is the leader of the Renaissance party, whose members support maintaining good relations with Russia. Mitrofanova called the party’s position “absolutely pro-Bulgarian.”
The interview was published after the elections, but the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said they consider the ambassador’s statement “an attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the country”, which “contradicts the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
