Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrey Turchak suggested putting images of historical figures, heroes of the Great Patriotic War, as well as heroes of a special military operation on the facades and walls of schools. In his opinion, “it should be done everywhere.” He shared his idea at a meeting on the school renovation program.
“We propose next year, when implementing the school overhaul program, to apply on the walls and facades images of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, heroes of a special military operation, historical figures who are directly related to these educational institutions or settlements. We also propose to consider the possibility of naming schools after heroes,” said Mr. Turchak (quoted by RIA Novosti).
In September, the Ministry of Education introduced amendments to the Federal State Educational Standard. It is planned to introduce sections on the military operation in Ukraine into the school history curricula for grades 10-11. The teachers fear that the department wants to turn them into “political commissars”. Head of the Ministry Sergey Kravtsov saidthat the textbooks will include the exploits of the heroes of the military operation.
