“United Russia” proposes to award ten more Russian cities the honorary title “City of Labor Valor”. This offer voiced United Russia General Council Secretary Andrey Turchak at a meeting of the Pobeda Organizing Committee for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, let me introduce you ten new contenders for the title of “City of Labor Valor” <...> Among the cities represented are both large regional centers and small cities, but all of them are united by the huge contribution of their residents to the victory,” said Turchak.
The list proposed by EP includes Vladimir, Votkinsk, Nakhodka, Novomoskovsk, Podolsk, Prokopievsk, Ryazan, Rubtsovsk, Ulan-Ude and Khanty-Mansiysk.
The honorary title “City of Labor Valor” was established on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. It is awarded to cities whose enterprises made the most significant contribution to meeting the needs of the USSR and the Soviet army during the Great Patriotic War. The honorary title has already been awarded to 53 cities.
In November last year, Putin appropriated the title of “City of labor prowess” to nine Russian cities: Astrakhan, Vologda, Gorlovka, Zlatoust, Kaspiysk, Lugansk, Norilsk, Orsk and Yakutsk. This was motivated by the fact that during the war the inhabitants ensured the uninterrupted production of military and civilian products, showing massive labor heroism.
