Tupolev’s house was renovated in Khamovniki

In the metropolitan area of ​​Khamovniki, the overhaul of house 12 in Bolshoi Vlasevsky Lane has been completed. This house is known for the fact that the famous aircraft designer, Hero of Socialist Labor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexei Andreyevich Tupolev lived in it from 1981 to 2001.

The seven-story house was built on an individual project in 1981. It looks unusual and spectacular, the architect gave the building a complex plasticity with the help of projections – this is the name of the part of the building that protrudes beyond the main line of the facade along its entire height. At the same time, the risalit usually does not affect the internal layout, it simply emphasizes some part of the building. Have you seen, for example, buildings built in the classical style, in which the central part – usually with columns and a triangular pediment on top – protrudes slightly forward? This is the risalit.

In the case of the house in Bolshoy Vlasevsky Lane, the risalit has rounded corners.

Add to this the vertical rows of loggias, the border of which is sheathed with transparent panels. Openwork metal gratings were installed above, but now many residents have replaced them with modern double-glazed windows.

Alexei Tupolev from the age of seventeen (that is, since 1942) worked in the experimental design bureau of his father, Andrei Tupolev, participating in the creation of the Tu-2 aircraft (also known as the ANT-58, or aircraft “103”), a twin-engine high-speed day bomber. Despite the fact that this aircraft began to massively enter the front only in 1944 and its contribution to the Victory was small, it is still considered the best in terms of sorties and combat losses. By the way, in mass production, for the sake of saving metal, tail wooden fuselage – the first design development of Alexei Andreevich.

After the war, Alexei Tupolev graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute named after Ordzhonikidze. Since 1973, he held the position of general designer. Alexei Tupolev was the chief designer of the famous Tu-144 aircraft, participated in the development of the Buran reusable orbital ship.
