Tuchel and Conte in FA crosshairs for ‘inappropriate conduct’

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and Tottenham rival Antonio Contewho clung violently in the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge the day beforewere charged with inappropriate conduct on Monday by the English Federation (FA).

The two technicians had two heated exchanges during the clash of the Premier League disputed in the lair of Chelsea, which ended in their exclusion at the end of the match. They face a heavy bench suspension as a result of their altercation.

The first clash came after Conte celebrated Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s equalizer near Tuchel’s technical area, sparking the latter’s ire, which earned them a yellow card.

Then the two coaches clashed again during a muscular handshake embellished with a few flowery remarks at the end of the match, the two men having to be separated by their respective technical staffs. The referee of the meeting Anthony Taylor issued against them a red card synonymous with exclusion. New scenes of fights involving players and coaches of the London rivals then occurred, forcing the security services to intervene.

While both men have three days to defend themselves before the FA, Tuchel could also face further charges from the governing body, which is investigating his post-match comments regarding the refereeing.

Tuchel, whose side led twice before being caught in added time, said he “might be betterthat Taylor no longer referees Chelsea, believing that the two Tottenham goals should not have been validated.
