Coalition forces deployed in the Syrian Arab Republic have recently increased attempts to target Russian aircraft with their weapons systems, said Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in the Arab Republic (TsPVS). RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
Speaking at a briefing, Rear Admiral noted that such attempts are most often recorded in the eastern part of Syria, during scheduled flights of Russian aviation. According to him, such actions are a violation of existing agreements.
Gurinov noted that the American side continues to deliberately and systematically violate the existing deconflict protocols and the Memorandum on Flight Safety in Syria.
At the same time, according to Rear Admiral, the Russian side, despite these provocations, continues to comply with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Russian Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense dated October 20, 2015.
