The court has set August 14 as the date for the trial in the case of classified documents filed against former US President Donald Trump, writes newspaper The Hill.
Florida Southern District Judge Eileen Cannon said all motions must be filed by July 24. At the same time, the publication notes that through petitions, the ex-president’s team may ask to postpone the proceedings, so the appointed date may not be final.
According to DoJ records, Trump’s files dealt with some of the most sensitive US military data, including information about the nuclear program and potential internal vulnerabilities in the event of an attack. We are talking about documents from the Pentagon, the CIA, the NSA and other intelligence agencies.
The former US leader became the first ex-president to face federal charges. This case, as reported by the media, will not prevent him from running his presidential campaign and even taking the presidency if he wins the election. The next US presidential election will be held in the fall of 2024.
