Former US President Donald Trump, who faces 91 charges in four criminal cases, suggested that prosecutors could close all cases if he met one condition. In an interview published on the website of American journalist Hugh Hewitt, Trump did not rule out that he could be offered to drop all charges in exchange for withdrawing from the presidential race and leaving politics.
The journalist asked the question: would the ex-president agree to such a deal if the prosecutors guaranteed that the charges would disappear? Trump’s response was surprisingly straightforward: “I think they would do it. I think they would do it right now … I think they would make this deal right now.”
The ex-president added that he would not agree to such proposals.
Recall that the accusations against Trump are related to his actions and decisions made during his presidency. The politician considers them an attempt by the Democratic establishment to prevent him from returning to the White House. The most serious charges threaten the ex-president with 20 years in prison, and if the punishment is determined by adding terms, he could be sentenced to several centuries in prison. Trump faces more than 700 years in prison on the combined charges.
