According to the report of the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, two earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 and 5 occurred in China last night. Tremors of the first earthquake, which was recorded at 02:38 (23:38 Moscow time on January 23), were recorded in Almaty.
The strength of these tremors was 2 points on the MSK-64 seismic scale. A second earthquake was also recorded in China, but no tremors were recorded in Kazakhstan. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Let us remind you that on the night of January 23, an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 occurred in China. The epicenter was located 121 km west of Aksu and 270 km southeast of Almaty. Tremors were felt in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
