Traveling the roads of winter discovery

An adventure auto quest through cities near Moscow has started

On December 29, 2023, the quest of the adventure game “Winter Discovery Road” begins in the Moscow region. If during the New Year holidays the motorist’s soul demands culture and change, get behind the wheel and go to Kolomna and Zaraysk for impressions. Why exactly there? Because if you’re lucky, you’ll come back with a full tank of gas.

The development of domestic tourism has been a feature of recent years. In fact, the closer we live to some attraction, the less often we go there. Just remember the excursions to Red Square. And our people sometimes don’t even get to most cities near Moscow with a rich history. If only while driving along the highway. But in vain… there can be so many wonderful discoveries waiting there!

For example, Kolomna, only 30 years younger than Moscow, is known for its Kremlin, pastila and tram museum. In 1380, here on Devichye Pole, Dmitry Donskoy, according to legend, held a review of troops before the start of the Battle of Kulikovo. And the stone Kolomna Kremlin a couple of years ago became the winner of the popular vote in a project-competition organized by the Russian Geographical Society.

40 kilometers in a straight line, and now we are in ancient Zaraysk, which once bore the name Red and was burned by Batu Khan, who was moving to Rus’ in the 13th century. The city of Zaraysk, by the way, changed its name more than 30 times. There was even a Sturgeon, named after the river on which it stands. And the city finally became known as Zaraisk in the 19th century.

During the Time of Troubles, it was ruled by Prince Dmitry Pozharsky, one of the leaders of the people’s militia. From here he went to liberate Moscow from False Dmitry. Motorists have a chance to repeat the path of Dmitry Pozharsky: there and back.

“Winter Discovery Road” is a new route in the form of a quest for motorists. The adventure game is a joint project of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Moscow Region and the Rosneft company.

The road to the cultural sites of Zaraysk and Kolomna is laid through the gas station of the oil company.

Detailed information about the route and rules of participation is published on the online platform of the Russian Horizons company. The goal of the project is to popularize domestic autotourism. You can plan a trip to interesting places independently from any point, through the infrastructure of roadside services and gas stations.

Participants in the “Winter Discovery Road” autoquest will be able to take part in a drawing for points from the “Family Team” loyalty program. In the “Treasure Map”, which can be obtained at the flagship Rosneft gas station in Moscow or Kolomna, you must mark the attractions visited and at the end point return the map to the gas station.

In total, you need to visit 11 cultural locations. The settlements themselves are small, all the attractions are concentrated in the center. The main prize will be drawn among all travelers – loyalty points equivalent to the cost of a full tank of fuel.

The quest will last until February 29. After all, the coming year is a leap year.
