Traktor beat Metallurg for the third time this season

In the third Southern Urals derby in two weeks, Traktor defeated Metallurg 5:1. The “black and whites” responded to Pavel Akolzin’s only goal with accurate shots from Sergei Telegin, Anton Burdasov, Ilya Karpukhin, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev and Artem Blazhievsky.

After an impressive victory in Magnitogorsk, changes in the Chelyabinsk team turned out to be minimal. They tried to move Nikita Soshnikov, who was playing unsuccessfully, to the center, and Buddy Robinson, on the contrary, was moved to the flank. Such changes were made in order to “reboot” players who are not yet playing the game. Nikita Podskrebalin was again entrusted with the place in goal, and Zach Fucale remained in reserve.

Magnitogorsk has seriously redrawn its composition. The youth link, as well as almost the entire central axis, went under the knife. Center forwards Mikhail Grass, Danila Yurov, Luke Johnson gave way to Arkhip Nekolenko, Dmitry Silantyev and Danila Kvartalnov. Artem Minulin also appeared in defense instead of Robin Press.

Traktor spent the first period a little less aggressively than in several previous matches. Well, the guests did not allow them to create the necessary pressure on Artem Zagidulin’s goal. “Metallurg” managed to open the scoring after an accurate throw by Pavel Akolzin, whom the Chelyabinsk defenders forgot on the spot. Traktor quickly bounced back after an accurate and powerful long-range shot from Sergei Telegin.

The second period passed with the total dominance of Traktor, and this time the usual problems with implementation were avoided. Anton Burdasov and Ilya Karpukhin made Metallurg replace Artem Zagidulin with Ilya Nabokov in goal with two very accurate shots. But at the end of the period, the younger Magnitogorsk goalkeeper capitulated after a throw by Semyon Der-Arguchintsev. The segment was also remembered for a brawl that almost escalated into a full-fledged five-on-five fight.

In the third period, Metallurg was unable to turn the game around, although they did not give up. Nikita Podskrebalin cleaned up the few mistakes made by the Chelyabinsk team’s defense. And in the end, Traktor also punished the Magnitogorsk team for removing the goalkeeper. Artem Blazhievsky shot very accurately from his zone.

5:1 – defeat of Metallurg in Traktor’s best match of the season so far. The Chelyabinsk team seems to be beginning to regain their lost ability to convert created chances. The Chelyabinsk team will continue their home series with a Sunday match against Kunlun, and the Magnitogorsk team will go to Togliatti, where they will play with Lada.
