Crimean Transport Minister Nikolai Lukashenko said that the traffic jam at the entrance to the Crimean bridge had increased to eight kilometers. According to him, the waiting time in line for the bridge is about five hours.
“The route through the Crimean bridge Krasnodar Territory – the Republic of Crimea as of 17:00 traffic jam is 8 km, waiting time is up to 5 hours,” Mr. Lukashenko said in his Telegram channel. He also said that the traffic jam was formed in the opposite direction, it stretched for a kilometer, the waiting time is 40 minutes.
The Ministry of Transport of Russia said that the queue for the Crimean bridge was formed “due to the increase in the number of cars heading to the Crimea, as well as the inspection of the transported luggage.” “We ask drivers to monitor the current situation with the help of a navigator and information boards on the roads, and, if possible, refrain from approaching the bridge until the situation normalizes,”— explained in the department.
Earlier it was reported that from 6:00 to 8:00, the queue to the bridge from the Kuban side doubled – from 3 to 6.5 km, then it was reduced to 5.5 km, but by 10:00 the queue had grown to 7 km. After that, the length of the queue fluctuated between 6.5-8 km, the waiting time was estimated at 4.5-5 hours.
The queue for the Crimean bridge from the Krasnodar Territory formed the day before, 1 July. Initially, it stretched for 5 km, then increased up to 9 km. At checkpoints, the number of employees was increased, the work of inspection lines and support forces was strengthened.
