The traffic police inspector turned out to be in the dock, who, at the request of journalists, photographed the driver’s license of 28-year-old Russian rap artist LJ.
As MK once reported, on May 26, 2021, the musician was detained on the road by inspectors after a chase. He was issued a protocol on an administrative offense, after which the court deprived the artist of his driver’s license for a year and a half and fined 30 thousand rubles. The traffic police inspector of the traffic police of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the North-Western District took a photo of the protocol and sold it for 20 thousand rubles to one of the telegram channels. The same “package” included a photograph of the musician next to the BMW.
The next day, a series of publications about the incident appeared on the Internet. One of them was accompanied by a photo of the detained Eldzhey next to a foreign car, a video from the registrar, which shows traffic police cars and the musician’s car, as well as a photo of the rap artist’s driver’s license. “Specialists” drew attention to the publication and began an internal check. It quickly became clear that the inspector boasted to his colleagues that he had materials on the rapper’s detention. Then he wrote to the chat of one of the telegram channels that he had information about the detention of Eldzhey. The editor offered to buy this data for 20 thousand rubles. The deal went through: the money was transferred to the traffic cop’s card. As a result, he was charged with abuse of power.
At the trial, the man admitted his guilt and repented. He said that he regretted what he had done, mentioned his father, who was also involved in law enforcement, and stated that he was worried about the fate of two children who could be affected by his criminal record.
The law enforcement officer was fired from his job under the article. And the Dorogomilovsky District Court sentenced him to a fine of 40,000 rubles for abuse of power.
