The trade turnover between Russia and Kyrgyzstan increased by 34% in the first half of the year, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with the head of the presidential administration of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Zhaparov.
“34% is the growth of our trade turnover, you said it is more than $1.4 billion. Naturally, our common goal is to create all bilateral conditions for solving a long-term strategic task in the trade and economic sphere,” leads his words to the press service of the government.
Mishustin also drew attention to the successful work of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, which has financed more than 3,200 projects totaling over $440 million.
Zhaparov, in turn, noted the removal of all restrictions on passenger traffic between the two countries, due to which a large flow of tourists from Russia is recorded. The number of direct flights from Russian cities to the Issyk-Kul region has increased to 114, he added.
Passenger air traffic between Russia and Kyrgyzstan was stopped in the spring of 2020 due to the coronavirus, it began to recover only in the spring of 2022, the railway passenger traffic between the countries was resumed in June.
At the end of July, the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev informedthat Moscow and Bishkek have completely switched over to trade settlements in rubles.
