Russians stuck at Chinese customs in Heihe were taken out via the Kani-Kurgan cross-border road bridge across the Amur, the Russian Consulate General in Harbin reported. Tourists have not been able to cross the Chinese-Russian border since November 3

“Russian citizens, consisting of 152 people, passed all control procedures on the Chinese side and left for Russia along the Kani-Kurgan-Heihe road bridge,” the diplomatic mission said (quoted by Interfax).

They clarified that the Russians underwent border clearance at the Chinese checkpoint on Great Heihe Island. Then they were taken to the Heihe automobile checkpoint, where they boarded Russian buses and headed across the bridge to the Kani-Kurgan automobile checkpoint, and from there to the Blagoveshchensk checkpoint.

As of November 9, about 200 tourists stuck on the Russian-Chinese border due to freeze-up on the Amur. They accused customs was disorganized and asked to urgently take them out across the cross-border road bridge across the Amur. Russians received a refusal from the local Ministry of Transport, which claimed that “there are no conditions for working with passengers at this checkpoint yet.” Yesterday, November 10, the ministry reportedthat people will still be taken across the bridge.
