Tourists described the rest in Anapa: the smell of sewage, the sea is dirty, housing in the garage

“Wastewater treatment plants can not cope with the load”

The occupancy of the beaches in Anapa breaks records. Videos with crowds of vacationers appeared on the network. People cannot stumble on the sand – they sunbathe while standing. We talked with tourists and locals about the situation at the resort.

Margarita, a resident of Anapa, says that twice as many tourists came to the resort this year as usual: “Local hoteliers are clutching their heads, they did not count on such an influx of tourists. There is not enough decent housing for everyone. In order to earn money, locals rent utility rooms on their plots, garages. Some go to relatives in the village for the summer season, and rent out their apartments by the sea for big money. Pensioners lodge to themselves having a rest. The owners of large apartments host several families, it turns out like a communal apartment.

Due to the huge number of visitors, prices for fruits and vegetables have crept up. In the central market, prices go through the roof. Locals shop in small farm yards. There, tomatoes cost 100-140 rubles, cucumbers – 50-70, zucchini – 60 rubles, eggplant – 140, peaches – from 100 and more. Apples of a new crop have already appeared from 70 rubles. Almost all cherries are imported – from 220 rubles. Almost no strawberries. A tray of raspberries and currants is given for 300 rubles. Maybe, by Moscow standards, this is inexpensive, but for us such prices are unbearable. Tourists are also upset, they thought they would buy fruits for a penny in the south. But in the markets, dealers set prices depending on demand.

The beaches are full. Tourists come to the central one by 7 in the morning and take places on the sand – put towels, swim rings, put chairs, tents from the sun. If you come later, there will be no place on the sand.

The sea is dirty. Some beaches have a lot of mud. Nobody cleans it.

Due to the huge crowds, the buses are overcrowded. There are queues at stops. Public transport is packed to capacity.

The locals don’t go to the beach now. Our time is the end of August and September. We choose a pebble beach where the water is clear.

In the sleeping areas of Anapa for a month in the evenings there is a vile, pungent smell of sewage. The stench disappears in the morning. Nobody can understand what it is connected with. It is assumed that our wastewater treatment plant can not cope with the load.

Olga rents apartments in Anapa. According to the woman, tourists are ready to pay any money just to find a corner: “People this year are just a shaft. I have six apartments. There are no empty dates left. Tight booking until mid-October. More and more people are arriving every day. I’m afraid that in August you will not only not get up on the beach, but you will not swim in the sea either.

Tatyana has been vacationing in Anapa for more than a year, but this is the first time she has seen such a number of vacationers: “On the central beach, there are only places on sunbeds for 400 rubles. But no one takes them for such prices. The strip free from sun loungers is two meters. There is where to stand, but to lie down will not work. That’s why people sunbathe standing up.”

Dmitry just returned from Anapa. The man says that he doesn’t go there anymore: “Crowds of tourists are not so bad, I was more embarrassed that the city was terribly smelling of sewage, as if I had got into a gas chamber. The beach also had a specific smell from algae. It’s strange that people didn’t care.”
