Tour of Scandinavia (F): Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig wins the 5th stage and takes the yellow jersey

Double blow for Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig. The Dane won in the sprint during the 5th stage of the Tour of Scandinavia, Saturday in Norefjell, thus delighting the yellow jersey from Marianne Vos.
While Sarah Roye and Sophie Wright each tried to get out of the peloton at the start of the race, an offensive by Valérie Demey 30 km from the end led the peloton to set a more sustained pace. Once the last breakaways resumed at the foot of the final climb (11.1 km at 6.1%), Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig was able to count on the work of her teammate Stine Borgli to blow up the peloton, and especially Marianne Vos, dropped 7 km from the finish.
A sprint finish
In the final, Ludwig then managed to extricate herself from a group of 12 riders, accompanied by Liane Lippert, before settling the latter in a sprint to win the queen stage. Belgian Julie Van de Velde (Plantur-Pura) took third place, 31 seconds later.
In the general classification, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig takes the throne, ahead of Liane Lippert by 17 seconds. Australian Alexandra Manly (Team BikeExchange-Jayco), victorious friday and fifth in today’s stage, completes the podium, while Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma) lost 2’57” on Saturday and will probably not triumph in this 2022 edition.
