On October 31, the Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo hockey players played their next match as part of the KHL regular championship for the 2023-2024 season. In the second match of the away series, Igor Larionov’s team visited Omsk, where they fought for 2 points with Avangard, which is not performing well during the current season and occupy only 6th place in the Eastern Conference, ahead of competitors located outside the top 8 overall by 4 points.
The meeting between Torpedo and Avangard was an equal fight, and the intrigue remained until the very final siren. The guests opened the scoring in the first period, but as the match progressed they no longer led, catching up with Avangard. In the middle of the 3rd period the score was 2:2, but 5 minutes before the siren Avangard scored the winning goal and beat Torpedo for the second time in the 2023-2024 season with a minimal difference in the score.
Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod will play the next match of the KHL regular championship on November 2. Igor Larionov’s team will play in an away match against Kunlun Red Star.
