On January 6, the Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo futsal players played the return match of the 1/4 finals of the Russian Cup against opponents representing the city of Yugorsk. To reach the semi-final stage, the team from Nizhny Novgorod fought against Gazprom-Yugra, a Super League opponent with whom they had already met twice in a row in the Super League playoffs and always lost, while showing high-quality futsal. In the first match of the quarterfinal confrontation, Torpedo won with a score of 5:3, but this was not enough to advance to the final stage.
In the home match, Torpedo played much weaker than their opponent and lost. Already at the end of the opening period of the match, Gazprom-Yugra won back the gap, and during the second half it was able to take the lead. Nizhny Novgorod residents got down to business, but it was too late. The club from Yugorsk was able to turn the tide of the confrontation and won the final victory with a score of 7:4 in the second match. Success in Nizhny Novgorod allowed Gazprom-Yugra to win on aggregate with a score of 10:9.
Torpedo will play its next official matches as part of the regular Super League championship. Nizhny Novgorod will play away against Tyumen on January 12 and 13.
