The team from the Tomsk region became the best at the Russian Cup in mini-lapta among men’s and women’s teams. This was reported by the Department of Youth Policy, Physical Culture and Sports of the Tomsk Region.
Tomsk laptists became the winners of the Russian Cup. The mini-lapta competition was held in Ufa from November 20 to 25, the government of the Tomsk region reported. 12 men’s and 14 women’s teams from 15 regions of the country took part in them. 55 matches were played.
The Tomsk region was represented by the women’s team, which included athletes from the Tomsk and Kargasok districts. They successfully overcame the group stage, in the quarterfinals they played victoriously with the team from Mari El, and in the semifinals they beat the athletes from Ulyanovsk.
“In the final, the Tomsk team had to fight a very formidable opponent: the team of Bashkortostan, one of the strongest in the country. Not everyone knows that Ufa is considered the birthplace of mini-lapta – this sport is actively cultivated in the republic. But our Siberians did not tremble and did the impossible: they beat the favorites by 7 points (18:11). Know ours! I congratulate the girls and wish them to move confidently to new sporting heights!” – Deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly Vladislav Borodin told the details.
Let us note that the women’s national team of the Tomsk region performed under the leadership of coach Evgeny Emelyanov.
It was previously reported that “lapta is a very spectacular game,” but in the Tomsk region there are not enough trainers for this sport.
