Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy said that he does not consider his words to fall within the definition of nationalism, that only citizens of countries where Russian has the status of a state language should work in public places in Russia.
“I don’t see the point in unilaterally encouraging disdain for the Russian language on the territory of the former USSR,” said the deputy referred to “Gazeta.Ru“.
Earlier, Tolstoy, during parliamentary hearings in the Federation Council, said that citizens of countries where Russian is not the state language are prohibited from working as drivers, sellers or couriers, as well as from engaging in other activities related to work in public places.
