Tokyo wants to strike jointly with the United States “retaliatory strikes” on the enemy

Japan’s ruling coalition is currently discussing possible changes to the country’s national strategy that would allow it to “retaliate against enemy bases,” the Kyodo news agency reported.
Reportedly, a draft bill has already been discussed at present, providing for the exchange of information with the US military for retaliatory strikes and assessing the success of their implementation.
At the same time, it is reported that Japan does not intend to fully rely on the US army in this matter, but will “conduct consultations.” As noted, military targets will be attacked on enemy territory, but other objects may also be hit.
As recognized in the ruling coalition, it will be difficult for Japan to give an adequate response to the blow. With this in mind, the country’s authorities are studying the feasibility of purchasing foreign cruise missiles, for example, the American Tomahawk.
In October, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that Japan would consider all options to protect the population, including the possibility of retaliation.
