Tokayev reappointed Smailov as prime minister of Kazakhstan

The press service of the President of Kazakhstan reported that the head of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, reappointed Alikhan Smailov to the post of Prime Minister. Earlier, Smailov’s candidacy was approved for appointment as deputies of the lower house of the national parliament – the Majilis.
“To appoint Smailov Alikhan Askhanovich as Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” reads the decree signed by Toeaev.
Prior to the reappointment decision, Alikhan Smailov had been the head of the government of Kazakhstan since January 2022.
