Ex-Head of President Nurtleu Appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Murat Nurtleu as Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, the press service of the Kazakh leader informs.
Recall that the Government of Kazakhstan resigned as a result of the election of deputies of the Mazhilis (lower house of parliament) on March 19. Tokayev instructed the old composition of the Cabinet of Ministers to perform duties until the formation of a new composition of the executive authority. On March 30, the president signed a decree on the reappointment of Alikhan Smailov, who had been in office since January 2022, as head of government.
As noted, Tokavev appointed Nurtleu as deputy prime minister – head of the Foreign Ministry, dismissing the country’s president from the post of head of the presidential administration.
Nurtleu has served as head of the presidential administration since February 1, 2022. Previously, the post of Deputy Prime Minister – Foreign Minister was held by Mukhtar Tleuberdi.
In addition, Marat Akhmetzhanov was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, and Ruslan Zhaksylykov was reappointed Minister of Defense of the Republic.
