To what authorities do Russians complain about scammers?

Almost every resident of Russia has encountered fraud attempts at least once over the past 12 months. More than half of respondents who encountered scammers (55%) contacted some authorities, showed study NAFI. Most often, respondents complain to banks. They also contact the police, cellular operators and Internet providers, technical support for services and sites where suspicious transactions were noticed.

According to NAFI, Russians most often complain about deception when buying and selling goods on the Internet (53%), phishing sites (47%) and calls from imaginary bank employees and law enforcement officials (44%). Other common schemes that respondents encountered include requests to transfer money (to help friends, register winnings, etc.), emails and instant messenger messages with suspicious links, offers to receive payment or compensation from the state or to make money from “ investments.”
