Almost every resident of Russia has encountered fraud attempts at least once over the past 12 months. More than half of respondents who encountered scammers (55%) contacted some authorities, showed study NAFI. Most often, respondents complain to banks. Other common schemes that respondents encountered include requests to transfer money (to help friends, register winnings, etc.), emails and instant messenger messages with suspicious links, offers to receive payment or compensation from the state or to make money from “ investments.”
