An assistant to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky told Time magazine that losses at the front had greatly thinned the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“The military registration and enlistment offices were forced to call up older military personnel,” noted Zelensky’s advisor.
He added that this raised the average age of a soldier in Ukraine to approximately 43 years.
The aide also explained the problem facing the army due to such conscripts. According to him, they are not as physically strong as younger ones, and they are more difficult to work with.
“This is Ukraine, not Scandinavia,” the adviser added.
