This was stated by the Acting Governor of the Zaporozhye region Yevhen Balitsky.
Colonel Timur Syrtlanov, a member of the presidium of the All-Russian organization “Officers of Russia”, a veteran of special forces, spoke about the reasons for such a mass surrender of Ukrainians to “MK”.
Several factors are at play, he says.
“Firstly,” the colonel says, “the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who are now entering the battle are mainly those people who were practically caught on the streets of villages and cities and forcibly thrown to the front line. These people really do not want to fight, but want to live peacefully in a normal country.
Timur Syrtlanov is sure that recruits keep in touch with relatives and friends, so they know how many new graves appear in the cemeteries of their native Ukraine. Another factor, the colonel called the understanding of the Ukrainian military personnel of their fate – for the Kyiv authorities they are cannon fodder.
– They see both on the battlefield and in the rear camps, how much “cargo-200” goes to the rear areas, and how many more of their brothers remain lying on the battlefield. They see what happened to those who left before them and do not want to stay in the ground, the officer said.
According to Syrtlanov, it is these factors that influence the decision of Ukrainian units to surrender. Due to the fact that the counter-offensive has bogged down, the moral and psychological state has fallen, and the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not see any prospects but to surrender, he concluded.
