The head of the Rospotrebnadzor department for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Dmitry Goryaev, said in his official Telegram channel that three residents of Krasnoyarsk on vacation in Thailand contracted dengue fever. According to the head of the department, there is also a one-year-old child among the sick.
In total, as Goryaev noted, five cases of dengue fever have been registered in the region since the beginning of the year. The head of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor reported the first two cases in early February, when the infected also returned from Thailand.
Goryaev stressed that vacationers fell ill as a result of non-compliance with simple security measures, in particular, the use of repellents, which could help protect themselves from mosquito bites, which are the main carriers of this disease. It is noted that there is no vaccine for dengue fever, and treatment is carried out exclusively symptomatically.
