Threads audience collapsed five times after the initial surge of interest

The number of active users of the Threads social network from the company Meta (declared extremist in the Russian Federation and banned) has decreased by almost five times compared to the peak values in mid-July. This is reported Les Echos citing data from Similarweb, an analytics company that evaluates the audience using Android devices.
On July 7, the day after launch, Threads had an active user count of 49.3 million, according to Similarweb. And exactly one month later, the app’s audience was only 10.3 million, which is 79% less than the peak figure. In addition, users began to spend much less time on the social network – only 3 minutes a day compared to 14 minutes in early July. Moreover, in the United States, this figure at its peak reached 21 minutes a day.
These data indicate that the new product of Mark Zuckerberg’s company cannot yet compete with X (formerly Twitter). For comparison: the number of daily active users X consistently exceeds 100 million people who spend on average about 25 minutes a day on the social network.
Previously reportedthat Russian users also quickly lost interest in the new product: the average daily audience of Threads in Russia a few days after the launch reached about 100 thousand people, but then fell two to three times, calculated in Mediascope.
