Thousands of football fans rioted in Bulgaria – Kommersant

In the center of Sofia, on the day of the match between the national teams of Bulgaria and Hungary, a protest was held with the participation of approximately 5 thousand football fans, reported Bulgarian national television. Protesters are demanding the resignation of Borislav Mikhailov, who has headed the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) for more than 18 years. The Bulgarian national team takes the last, fifth place in Group G of the qualifying tournament for Euro 2024. By decision of the BFU, fans were not allowed into today’s match with Hungary.

Some victims suffered head injuries, media noted. There are also detainees, their number is not specified.
