This is our biography with you

Don’t be surprised by the “you” in the title, this has been the custom in the journalistic environment for many years. And with these words, we want to address our colleague Nina Batalova in connection with the upcoming anniversary. The date is amazing – “only” the 90th anniversary. Considering that Moskovskaya Pravda turns 105 this year, there really is a lot in common.

The history of our newspaper has been written with many pens, but still the contribution of the political observer Nina Batalova has a special weight. After all, all her professional and human passions are forever given to our city. Whether she writes about the problems of the metropolis, which Moscow has now become, or about the history of the capital of the Russian state, whether she covers the multilateral activities of the Moscow government or the trips of representatives of the Russian capital to the regions of our country, to the near or far abroad – all these are facets of the main topic for her. Descendants following the trail of events that happened in the USSR, Russia, Moscow, especially over the past quarter of a century, at the turn of the epochs, feel in the publications of Moskovskaya Pravda, under which there is the signature “Nina Batalova”, the pulse, rhythm, heat, the essence of time .

On August 5, 1956, Nina Fomicheva, a graduate of the journalism faculty of Moscow State University, came to work at Moskovskaya Pravda. Longevity in the profession is not uncommon. Not many people change it dramatically in life. But to have a single entry in the work book, to work all this time in one newspaper – this is already very serious. Perhaps, one might say, unique. But probably. As Nina Andreevna proved. Having married, she changed her surname and became Batalova, but she never changed her place of work. At first, she was assigned to the information department. A young, energetic, erudite, inquisitive employee of the capital’s newspaper was interested in everything that was happening in Moscow. She walked around, drove around, looked around the whole city from a bird’s eye view. Working in the oldest city newspaper, with its own traditions and history, she became a witness, participant and chronicler of the most important events taking place in the capital of our Motherland. From the very beginning she was and still remains devoted to Moscow, her profession and her newspaper. Time passed, editors-in-chief changed, and Nina Andreevna continued to serve our native city in Moskovskaya Pravda.

And now – who will be the first to remind you of a significant date, make historical comparisons, prompt, and sometimes even predict the course of events, and simply explain how and what is happening in our capital? Of course, Nina Batalova!

People like Nina Andreevna are called mentors – as they say, many of the writing brethren entered professional life from under her light hand, who today successfully work not only in MP, but also in other print and electronic media.

Fundamentally educated, quickly “getting into” new and complex problems, a subtle psychologist, she instantly establishes contact with any person – from a prominent scientist, outstanding doctor, actor, academician of painting, politician to a simple Muscovite who turned to the newspaper with his problem. It will help to defend a just cause, will not leave you in trouble, will not humiliate yourself and the newspaper with falsehood for the sake of the market situation.

For us, history is not just words in a book, but a living person, a professional eyewitness of several eras and a storehouse of knowledge.
