The Russian Foreign Ministry called for an end to hostilities between Israel and Palestine. Moscow is confident that part of the responsibility for what is happening lies with the West, which blocked the work of the “Middle East Quartet” of mediators with Russian participation. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize believes that Russia’s attitude towards Israel is changing for the worse.

The official reaction of the Russian Federation to the events in Israel, or rather to a full-scale war, was at the level of expressing the most serious concern. As noted in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the conflict, which has lasted 75 years, has no forceful solution, and therefore Moscow calls on the parties to cease fire and begin to establish a negotiation process.

The West is to blame for everything, of course. In particular, he is blocking the work of the Middle East Quartet, which includes the USA, Russia, the EU and the UN. There was a chance to solve the problem on a global level. But that didn’t happen. Once again. This issue is controversial in many respects. It may seem that the emphasis is on a forceful solution, primarily on the part of the Hamas movement, which many countries, not just the West, consider terrorist. But the Russian Federation does not think so.

Theoretically, the Kremlin could act as a mediator in resolving the entire current situation, or at least propose such a scenario. Considering the connections with the same Hamas and Iran. And Israel is not a foreign state, it seems. However, such efforts have not yet been observed.

As for what is happening at the unofficial level, everything is much more interesting here. It can be assumed that the main federal media figures were more likely to support Palestine. The so-called relocants, including well-known ones, especially suffered. Why don’t you like our reality? Then get your money’s worth – go to the front in the distant desert.

Although it seems that at a critical moment it is customary to show concern for one’s citizens. Maybe they are bad and have stumbled, but they are still theirs. Or how? What does this mean? Is our society divided? This is not exactly a good sign, it is alarming. Moreover, the same Russian tourists are in Israel. Those who simply came for educational purposes.

Now, as for the attitude towards Israel in Russia at all levels. Recently it has changed noticeably and, apparently, in a negative direction. So the relocants rushed there. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, the main enemy, is of the wrong nationality. Jerusalem does not share our Russian position. Although at some point it might seem that he was trying to be neutral. And then Iran is now our ally.

And there were times, like quite recently, when the same Benjamin Netanyahu participated in the “Immortal Regiment” action, and the Israeli anthem was played on Red Square. But now it begins to seem that this was, rather, an exception to the rule, a kind of temporary eclipse. And now everything is back to normal. Not yet like in the Soviet years, but close to it.
