They want to attract a blogger for sleeping: he discredited the Armed Forces with a post on social networks

If you dreamed of Zelensky, this is not good. According to media reports, in Chita, 26-year-old blogger Ivan Losev is accused of… sleeping. Law enforcement agencies, according to Losev, considered that he had discredited the Armed Forces in a dream.

Not only did the young man see a provocative dream, he subsequently posted a story about him on the social network with details, allegedly in a dream he met and talked with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Just in case, we do not retell the vision in detail, but it was about the fact that in a dream Ivan Losev was captured, where he met with Zelensky and had a short talk with him. Zelensky admitted (also in a dream) that he was reading the blogger’s story and therefore he alone would save his life.

It must be said that it was, of course, very reckless to publicly tell about the ups and downs of his dream on the part of Losev. Not everything that dreams should be shared with the whole world. Perhaps Ivan simply did not read Orwell as a child, where one minor character was just brought to justice for expressing his thoughts in a dream.

But there it is not the hero’s fault that his own children overheard him. And here Ivan himself laid out everything as if in spirit.

It should be noted that some of Losev’s posts were quite provocative even before that. But, as he himself believes, he was charged with discrediting precisely after the message about the dream. “My harsher statements were ignored, but the dream was attached to the case,” the violator comments on what happened. He believes that his page has been followed since at least May.

Apparently, it was the dream that was the last straw. What is on the mind of the sleeper, as they say …

“I pretend to be smart, in fact, he is still a moron,” – this is how the blogger characterizes himself on his page.

Ivan Losev was discovered as a result of the operational-search activity “making inquiries”, after which the description of his dream went through the authorities. It is not very clear whether the guy was charged with an administrative offense or a criminal case was opened on fakes. He writes that so far a protocol has been drawn up against him. And he attaches the report of the detective, who launched the post about the dream through the authorities.

Although, in our opinion, this may not be about discrediting the armed forces, since no hostilities take place in a dream, it is possible that this dream should be qualified on the basis of the elements of a crime of … treason!

And here is what lawyers think about the prospects of this case.

Marina Silkina, PhD in Law:

– In March 2022, legislators introduced a number of amendments to the Criminal Code related to the start of the SVO. In particular, Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for liability for public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in order to protect the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens, maintain international peace and security, or exercise the authorities of the Russian Federation of their powers for these purposes. Considering that the practice of bringing to responsibility is only being formed, many questions arise as to how, whom and for what specifically it can be brought to justice. And in what actions of a citizen can be seen as a crime, and in what not.

In the case of the dream told by a resident of Chita on the Internet, his actions can indeed be considered as discrediting the RF Armed Forces. Since they have a sign of publicity (dissemination of information to two or more persons), and in what form it is filed – in the form of a story about a dream or other thoughts, are subject to evaluation by the court. Practice in such categories of cases is still being formed. The difficulty lies in the lack of a common understanding of the concept of “discredit”.

But in any case, in order to be held accountable, it must be proven that the person’s actions are intentional, which is to be established if the case goes to court.
