The RIA Novosti agency, citing a source in the Moscow government, writes that there will be no fireworks on New Year’s Eve and Christmas in Moscow. The decision, like last year, was made due to a special military operation in Ukraine, the mayor’s office told TASS.
“Like last year, this year we will celebrate the holiday without fireworks and salutes,” a TASS source said.
Telegram– the channel “Caution, Moscow” published a photograph of part of the document signed by the deputy head of the department of regional security and anti-corruption of the city of Moscow, Kirill Malyshkin.
“The plan for the main events of the New Year 2024 and the celebration of the Nativity of Christ does not provide for fireworks displays in Moscow,” the document states. The Moscow government has not yet commented on the information.
The authorities of Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Sochi, Anapa and Ufa have already refused to hold New Year’s fireworks. In turn, the authorities of St. Petersburg approved the New Year’s holiday program without restrictions.
The news is being updated.
