– I think that sex education lessons have no place in schools. A medical professional can tell you about the dangers associated with early sexual life during a medical examination. Within the walls of the clinic, it will still sound more natural than at a desk,” says Natalya P., mother of a 6th grade student.
The Russian Orthodox Church traditionally opposes such initiatives. The clergy believe that the true goal of all sex education is the desire to corrupt schoolchildren and young people. According to religious leaders, “this” should be told delicately in the family. The idea is currently being discussed to raise the issue chastely as part of the Family Studies course, which may appear in the school curriculum for the next academic year.
The proactive parents of Ryazan fully agree with the church representatives. An appeal was drawn up on the Internet to the governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, demanding to cancel the development of a sex education program in schools. “Such lessons will only arouse unhealthy interest and desire for early sexual activity,” the text of the petition says. – Regular conversations with children about anything can only fuel interest in this topic. We think that you, as a father, will not argue with this.”
So far, more than 200 people have signed the petition.
