There is no need for self-nomination // Only candidates from parties will be able to apply for the post of governor of Primorye

The Primorsky Territory Legislative Assembly on Wednesday introduced amendments to the region’s electoral code that abolish the possibility of self-nomination in the governor’s elections. Thus, during the 2023 campaign, only parties will be able to nominate candidates, which, according to the supporters of the initiative, will contribute to the development of the political system. At the same time, the current head of Primorye, Oleg Kozhemyako, won the elections in 2018 precisely as an independent candidate and then called on other candidates “not to hide behind political parties.”
