There is a shortage of nannies in the Russian labor market – Kommersant

On the labor market in Russia, the demand for nannies has outstripped supply, reports RBC with reference to data from job search aggregators. The State Duma proposed to compensate for the staff shortage with children’s rooms at universities.

It is indicated that at the beginning of 2024 there will be 2.3 resumes per nanny vacancy. It is reported that the reason was a reduction in personnel, the situation on the labor market and the general economic background in the country. Also, parents increasingly need a nanny for several hours, a car nanny, or an assistant who will not only look after the children, but also do household chores.

The head of the Committee on Labor and Social Policy, Yaroslav Nilov, called for compensating for the shortage in the labor market by building kindergartens and nurseries at educational institutions. In turn, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science Olga Petrova stated that the department is initiating a project to create rooms for children to stay at universities, so that young parents have the opportunity to take care of the child without interrupting their studies or teaching at the university.
