The representative of the traffic police, Viktor Stelmakh, said that the Rules of the Road in Russia have a rule that allows you to ride together on electric scooters and other means of individual mobility (SIM), if the design of the vehicle provides for this possibility. He spoke about this during a speech at the Public Chamber at the round table “New traffic rules on electric scooters: first results.”

Viktor Stelmakh noted that he did not know about SIM, which, by design, allow people to be transported. “Perhaps there is. We believe that this will probably still be adjusted when the next package of changes is introduced, ”he said (quoted from TASS).

Since March 1, amendments to the traffic rules have been in force that electric scooters, electric skateboards, hoverboards, segways, unicycles and other similar devices have SIM status. According to the law, you can move on a SIM at a speed of no more than 25 km / h on sidewalks, bicycle and pedestrian paths. According to the traffic police, over the past six months, the number of accidents with SIM has increased by 60% compared to the summer of 2022. Against this background, mandatory certification may be introduced for electric scooters, this will allow owners to be fined for speeding.

On the eve of kicksharing “Yurent” posted posters with social advertising on the streets of Moscow against unsafe scooter riding together. The advertising slogan reads: “Bro, don’t be a cockerel, or on two scooters or on foot.” Also part of the campaign is a video referring to a trend on TikTok that refers to renting one scooter for two as “petsharing” instead of kicksharing.
