On March 19, Yakutia will host a solemn ceremony of lighting the flame of the VIII Children of Asia Games. The event is planned to be held at the foot of the Lena Pillars.

The ceremony will be attended by the head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev, the President of the International Committee “Children of Asia” Vladimir Maksimov, the President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov, as well as two-time Olympic champion in hockey Vyacheslav Fetisov.

The lighting ceremony is one of the most important parts of the Games. The ceremonial ceremony is organized in compliance with the national traditions of the Sakha people. This pays tribute to the land where the Children of Asia Games originated.

Aisen Nikolaev noted that a hockey match will take place during the ceremony. Hockey is not included in the program of the summer games, however, this action will attract attention to Yakutia, the Lena Pillars and the games themselves.

The hockey match “Mammoth League” will take place between the sports teams “Legends of Hockey” and “National Team of Yakutia”.

Let us note that the torch relay of the VIII Children of Asia Games will begin on March 20 from the Khangalassky ulus, which is the small homeland of the founder of the Children of Asia Games – the First President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Mikhail Efimovich Nikolaev. The final event will take place on June 26 at the opening ceremony of the Games at the Tuymaada stadium in the capital of the republic.
