There are no violations in fish products after the release of water from Fukushima – Kommersant

Studies of fish products obtained near the site of water discharge from the Japanese Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant did not reveal any violations. About it reported press service of the Primorsky interregional department of Rosselkhoznadzor.
According to the department, from September 18 to 22, 494 studies were carried out on 164 samples of fish products weighing 31.7 thousand tons. The fish was caught in the fishing subzones of five regions of the Russian Federation. In 58 cases, fishing subzones of Primorye are indicated, in 38 cases – Kamchatka, in 29 cases – Sakhalin, in 21 cases – Khabarovsk Territory and in one case – Murmansk Region.
In particular, in Primorye, 140 samples of fish products were examined – halibut, pink salmon, pollock, chum salmon, and crabs. On Sakhalin, 24 samples of fish products were tested – dried sea cucumber, chum salmon, shrimp, salted caviar and frozen caviar.
The accident at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant occurred in 2011. The water used to cool the reactors was stored in tanks after purification. On August 24, 2023, the Japanese company Tokyo Electric Power began discharging water purified from radioactive substances from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean. China opposed the release of water, which banned import of Japanese fish and seafood.
