There are no analogues in Russia: a unique sports facility will be built in Chelyabinsk

The day before, on November 10, the governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Alexei Teksler, took part in the signing of an agreement on the construction of an indoor sports arena.
The universal sports complex was named “Arena Chelyabinsk”, it will be located on the Universitetskaya embankment.
The project provides for a full-size football field 105×68 meters, circular running tracks 400 meters long, sectors for athletics (long jump, high jump and pole vault, a sector for shot put, discus and hammer throw).
Governor Alexei Teksler noted that the construction of the facility is another contribution to the infrastructure development of the region. The complex will be in demand and will help to more effectively involve children and youth in sports.
“A modern sports facility will be built, unique across the country (there are none in Russia yet): a universal sports arena with a full-fledged football field and infrastructure for training and athletics competitions,” Alexey Teksler emphasized.
According to the head of the region, the infrastructure will allow holding mass cultural and sports events in the arena all year round. It is also planned that players of FC Chelyabinsk will be able to hold home matches on the football ground in the future.
General Director of Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant JSC Pavel Izbrekht said that the company supports the implementation of social projects in the territories where their enterprises are present.
“We are implementing many initiatives. The construction of the universal arena was an initiative of Alexei Leonidovich, and we supported it. The employees of the Zinc Plant live in Chelyabinsk, we want the city to develop, be beautiful and comfortable,” Pavel Izbrekht shared.
The capacity of the arena will be 3,000 spectators. The complex will also have coaching rooms, two warm-up rooms, locker rooms for judges, a medical center, doping control rooms, a gym and a press center.
The project is currently being finalized. Documentation must also pass the State Expertise. Construction work is scheduled to start in spring 2023. The facility is expected to be ready by autumn 2025.
