Stress allows the body to connect new forces. Therapist Nadezhda Chernyshova told RT about the benefits of stress.
According to the physician, stress is an adaptation for responding to sudden changes in the external environment. Without it, man could not survive. “For all these situations, it is necessary that the heart beat very quickly, distill blood at maximum speed, the lungs work actively, saturating the blood with oxygen, the muscles contract quickly and strongly,” said Chernyshova. In her opinion, all these reactions are the essence of stress.
At the same time, the therapist also drew attention to another mechanism of stress – the suppression of some functions at the expense of others. It is thanks to this that due to stress, appetite may disappear, immunity decreases, the instinct for procreation is weakened.
The physician also stressed that chronic stress no longer benefits the body, but, on the contrary, weakens it.
