Russian astronomer shared his similar joke
French theoretical physicist Etienne Klein played a prank on Twitter. He uploaded a photo of the chorizo sausage on his page, calling it a new image of the star Proxima Centauri close to us. The audience believed…
Inspired by the similarity of space images of real stars with a slice of a famous gastronomic dish, the scientist captioned his photo: “Photograph of Proxima Centauri taken by the James Webb telescope.”
Later, already on the pages of the Bild newspaper, Klein’s joke was explained to readers: “Everything is obvious: a red fireball with luminous spots on a black background. In fact, the impressive photo of the “star” is a piece of chorizo sausage!”.
The 64-year-old French scientist Etienne Klein is a graduate of the Central School of Paris, he holds a DEA (Master of Advanced Studies) in theoretical physics, as well as a PhD in the philosophy of science and an accreditation for research leadership.
At our request, our Russian scientist, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, senior researcher at the State Astronomical Institute named after P.K.
“Somehow, while preparing for a lecture to schoolchildren, I decided to visually present them with an elliptical orbit along which comets fly around the Sun,” says Vladimir Georgievich. – For this, I cut off a piece, too, by the way, of smoked sausage, but not exactly, but at an angle. The result was an ellipse shape, on which it remained to “draw” a flying comet and the Sun on the computer. By the way, I appreciated the joke of the French colleague, it turned out funny.
