A new era of human-robot relations is opening

A Spanish-Dutch artist is set to marry an artificial intelligence hologram this summer. The woman emphasizes that her action is a person’s transition to a new level of love and relationships in society.

According to a press release from the artist’s publicity team, Alicia Frame will marry her holographic partner AILex, who was trained using profile information from her previous romantic partners.

The ceremony will take place at the Boijmans Van Beuningen Depot Museum in Rotterdam. It will include a “unique ritual of union between human and avatar,” and guests will be served “molecular food that can be enjoyed by both humans and humanoid beings,” the release states.

Frame is designing the dress herself, as well as clothing for the wedding guests, emphasizing that the celebration represents a “new generation of love” where people will be in relationships with holograms, avatars and robots.

“While marriage seems like a form of performance art,” Frame admitted, “it raises interesting questions about what union with a holographic partner looks like.”

The artist claims that she is very interested in understanding how life will be built with a hologram.

“How we could get a loan to buy a new car, and now we can get it to buy a new companion,” she said in a press release. Alicia Frame also wondered if she could open a joint account with her partner and what insurance coverage they would need.

She added: “AI and human companions can be a beneficial option for people who need companionship. This hologram will satisfy all my needs.”

Frame believes that she will be the first woman to marry a hologram. However, already in 2018, Business Insider reported about a Japanese man who married a virtual reality singer. None of his family attended the wedding ceremony.
