The young squad of Vodnik became the silver medalist of the All-Russian tournament

From October 7 to 8, the All-Russian mini hockey tournament “Playing Bandy” among youth born in 2009 was held in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region.
Six teams from Nizhny Novgorod, Arkhangelsk, Moscow, Kirov regions and the Republic of Tatarstan took part in it. The competition took place in two stages. At the first of them, all participants played in a round-robin format. Then the four strongest teams received the right to fight for victory in the tournament.
According to RCSP “Vodnik”, without losing a single point, the Arkhangelsk team confidently reached the semi-finals, in which they met with Kirov “Rodina”. The fight turned out to be very tense. For most of it, the northerners were leading 1:0, but a minute before the final whistle, the Kirov team managed to avoid defeat and transfer the match to a shootout, in which the “yellow-greens” turned out to be more accurate.
In the decisive match, the Arkhangelsk team met with Yunost from Nizhny Novgorod. The final for the “yellow-greens” largely followed the scenario of the previous game. The match with the hosts turned out to be very stubborn, and again the main time ended in a draw – 2:2, and in the shootout, luck was on the side of the Nizhny Novgorod team. According to the results of the tournament, Vodnik player Egor Kovalev was recognized as the best striker.
– I have no complaints about the guys. We didn’t lose a single match in regular time. This is very good, considering that the hockey season is just beginning,” summed up the coach of the Vodnik-2009 team, Roman Netosov.
