Following a board meeting, the World Curling Federation (WCF) extended the suspension of the Russian and Belarusian teams from international competitions.

As the meeting participants recalled, the basis for the suspension was the clause according to which athletes can be excluded from competitions if “their presence at the event could damage the event or jeopardize the safety of participants or the order of the event.”

The previous suspension order expired on December 31, 2023, but it was extended.

Meanwhile, Sochi is preparing to host the competition All-Russian Winter Sports Spartakiad. The best luge and bobsledders will come to the mountain slopes of the resort city to compete. Athletes will also compete for awards in biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, speed skating, snowboarding, figure skating and ice hockey.

In December 2023, the Moscow region team won at the All-Russian Curling Festival among boys and girls under 13 years of age. The young athletes took first place in the gold group, leaving behind their rivals from Rostov and St. Petersburg.
